Maataa Waka, Marlborough
RISE is contracted by the Ministry of Justice and the Department of Corrections to deliver services in Marlborough. We do this through a partnership with Maataa Waka, a Kaupapa Māori social service provider. They have been operating for more than 20 years and have strong connections throughout Blenheim. They were formed as a trust in 1990 to help Māori living in Marlborough. The aims and objectives of the society were related to enhancing the social and cultural wellbeing of whānau. Today they are a provider of a range of services, including the contract with RISE.
